30 weeks pregnant – the changes in you
You may not be sleeping well or lying awake during the night. Sometimes your baby is awake when you want to sleep, his movements keeping you awake or it can be you just can’t get to sleep. Some women lie awake for half the night due to stomach acid. Other complaints may also affect your sleep pattern: your bump getting in the way, cramp in your calf muscles, restless legs. During these weeks you can become very tired.
30 weeks pregnant – how is your baby growing?
Your baby is now approximately 39 centimetres long and weighs about 1300 grams. The lungs can, in theory, inhale air although if the baby actually had to use them he would certainly need help in the hospital. Slowly surfactants (a special moisture) form in the lungs. This moisture ensures the alveoli (small lung cavities) don’t collapse when he exhales.
